Obituary of Willa N. Hewitt 

Peoria - Willa N. Hewitt, 93, of the Lutheran Home since 1993, formerly of 1100 E. Maywood , died at 4:00 pm Monday, November 19, 2001 , at the Lutheran Home.

Born August 20, 1908 , in Greenview , IL , the daughter of William Dennison and Nellie Alberta Gray James, she married Harold Hewitt on June 14, 1931 . He died December 12, 1994 , in Peoria . Also preceding her in death are 2 brothers.

Surviving is 1 daughter , Shirley (and Orval) Paris of East Peoria, IL, 1 son , Jim (and Donna) Hewitt of Bloomington, IL; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild.

A graduate of Peoria High School and Peoria Normal Training School , she received her teaching certificate in 1928. She taught at Kingman School from 1928 to 1931, then was a substitute teacher for Dist 150 from 1941 until 1980. She was a member of Glen Oak Christian Church, and Retired Teachers Association.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 21, 2001 , at her church. Rev. Dr. Paul Isom will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the memorial service at the church. Private family burial of ashes will be in Springdale Cemetery .

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Home, Glen Oak Christian Church, or to Shriner's Hospital for Children.
