Obituary of Walter W. Joos 

Princeville - Walter W. Joos, 79, of Princeville, formerly of Chillicothe , died at 12:51 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2001 , at OSF St. Francis Medical Center , Peoria .

Born March 24, 1922 , in Edelstein , Illinois , the son of Emil and Lena Musselman Joos, he married Caroline Julia Miller January 16, 1949 , in Peoria . She died June 24, 1990 , in Peoria . He later married Janet Price Martin December 29, 1996 , in Princeville. She survives.

Also surviving are 1 son , Rolland Joos (and Linda) of Chillicothe, IL; 1 daughter , Linda J. Joos, of Chillicothe, IL; 1 step-son , Mike (and Julie) Martin of Edelstein, IL ; 2 step-daughters , Debbie (and Erik) Givens of Princeville, IL, and Nancy (and Fred) Witzig of Bloomington, IN; 3 grandchildren ; and 9 step-grandchildren . 4 brothers , Robert K. Joos (and Lorene) of Chillicothe , IL , Charles Joos (and Shirley) of Peoria , IL , Duane Joos (and Penny) of Des Moines , IA , and Chris Joos (and Diane) of Sahuarita , AZ ; 1 sister , Margaret Meisinger (and Roy) of Pekin , IL ; His parents preceded him in death.

He was a World War II Army Infantry Veteran. He farmed in the Monica and Chillicothe areas, and also worked for Caterpillar Inc, for 20 years, first in the Machine Shop, then in assembly, and last in sanitation, until retiring in 1987.

He also volunteered at Parkhill Nursing Home, Chillicothe ; Apostolic Christian Skylines, Peoria ; OSF St. Francis Medical Center Main Building ; and most recently OSF Center for Health. He also delivered meals on wheels.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2001 , at Apostolic Christian Church, Princeville. Ministers of the Church will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 til 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2001 , at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, and one hour prior to funeral service at the church. Burial will be in Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery , Princeville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Akron/Princeville Ambulance or Peoria Apostolic Christian Skylines.
