Obituary of Vennessa Jayne Adams

Chillicothe - Vennessa Jayne Adams, 79, of Chillicothe , formerly of Princeville, died at 2:32 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2002 , at Methodist Medical Center , Peoria.

Born October 3, 1922 , in rural Dunlap , Illinois , the daughter of Charles L. and Blanche V. Burgess Turner, she married Kenneth E. Adams on September 23, 1939 , in Clinton , Iowa . He died December 20, 1972 .

Surviving are 1 daughter , Vickie S. (and Patrick) Clougherty of Chillicothe, IL, with whom she made her home; 1 son , T. Scott (and Barb) Adams of Normal, IL; 5 grandchildren , Collin Clougherty and Cory Clougherty both of Chillicothe, IL, Stephanie Adams, Mollie Adams, and Lindsey Adams all of Normal, IL; and

1 great-grandchild , Ashley Clougherty of Chillicothe , IL . Her parents preceded her in death.

She was a graduate of Dunlap High School and lived most of her life in Princeville. She was a charter member of the Princeville Women's Club and the Princeville Historical Society. She was a member of the Princeville United Methodist Church and was a volunteer for the Proctor Service League, Peoria .

She lived with multiple sclerosis for many years and her spirit was an inspiration to those who knew her. She was Nana to her grandchildren and will be greatly missed by her family.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2002 , at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Rev. Rex Hendrix will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. til time of funeral service on Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery , Princeville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Chillicothe Township Senior Transportation Fund or Rescue 33 Ambulance Fund, Chillicothe .
