Obituary of LaVern M. Brandenburg

Princeville - LaVern M. Brandenburg, 90, formerly of Princeville, died 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2002 , at St. Joseph 's Home, Peoria , where she was a resident.

Born May 8, 1912 , in West Point , Iowa , the daughter of John and Margaret Denning Smutzer, she married Arthur William "Jake" Brandenburg on May 1, 1930 , in Chillicothe , IL . He died February 5, 1962 , in Peoria .

Surviving are 1 daughter , Sharon (and Jerry) Lauber of Princeville , IL ; 5 grandchildren ; 8 great-grandchildren ; 1 great-great-grandson ; and

1 brother , Donald Smutzer of Council Bluffs , IA. Her parents, infant son, Paul Brandenburg, son, Earl Brandenburg, three sisters and five brothers preceded her in death.

She worked at Sutliff & Case and Foster & Gallahger both in Peoria . She later worked as a label sorter for International Paper in Peoria .

She was a member of Royal Neighbors of American and St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, Princeville, and it's Altar & Rosary Society.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2002 , at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, Princeville. Monsignor Richard Soseman will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. til 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2002 , at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Burial will be in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery , Princeville.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church or Akron/Princeville Ambulance Service.
