Obituary of Ralph V. Gehrig Edelstein - Ralph V. Gehrig, 84, of rural Edelstein, died at 11:35 am Saturday, December 21, 2002 , at Proctor Hospital , Peoria . Born August 2, 1918 , in Lawn Ridge , IL , the son of Robert F. and Caroline Streitmatter Gehrig, he married Mildred C. O'Bryan on January 24, 1942 , in Peoria , IL . She survives. Also surviving are 3 brothers , Howard (and Betty) Gehrig of Nashville, TN, Robert (and Helen) Gehrig of Peoria, IL, and Floyd (and Betty) Gehrig of Dunlap , IL ; and 1 sister , Daisy (and Clarence) Kreiter of Glasford , IL . His parents, two brothers, Louis & Edwin Gehrig, and one sister, Dorothy Bodell preceded him in death. He farmed in the Edelstein area for 41 years, retiring in 1985. He attended the Edelstein Congregational United Church of Christ, Edelstein. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 24, 2002 , at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Rev. Richard Sather will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. til time of the funeral service. Burial will be in Streitmatter Cemetery , rural Princeville.
