Corrected Obituary of Bennie L. Johnson

Princeville - Bennie L. Johnson, 71, of rural Princeville, died 4:05 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2002 , at Provena Covenant Hospital , Urbana , IL .

Born March 30, 1931 , in rural Dunlap , Illinois , the son of Benjamin and Marjorie F. Pullen Johnson.

Surviving are 2 sisters , Fran (and Steve) Streitmatter of Mahomet , IL , and June Jibben of Dunlap , IL ; 3 nieces ; and 1 nephew . His parents and one infant brother preceded him in death.

He was a 1949 Dunlap High School graduate and he served in the United States Army. He farmed in rural Princeville and Williamsfield areas. He was a member of Peoria County Farm Bureau and was on the Monica Elevator Board of Directors since 1969, serving as secretary/treasurer from 1987 til present. He also was a member of Laurel Greens Golfers Club, Knoxville . He was a former member of Illinois Pork Producers and was a former Peoria County 4-H leader. He volunteered for fundraisers for St. Jude's Midwest Affiliate and Make a Wish Foundation as well as other charities. He also bowled with the Sunday Splitters, at Mt. Hawley Bowl, Peoria .

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2002 , at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Rev. Rex Hendrix will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 til 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2002 , at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home. Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery , Princeville.
