Obituary of Donald R. McNeely, Sr.

Princeville - Donald R. McNeely, Sr., 69, of Brookfield , Illinois , formerly of Princeville, died 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2002 , at his residence.

Born February 10, 1933 , in Princeville , Illinois , the son of Robert and Isla Morrow McNeely, he married Alma Gray on October 13, 1953 . She died September 10, 1998.

Surviving are 4 sons , Donald (and Beth) McNeely, Jr. of Downers Grove, IL, Michael (and Ellen) McNeely of Lemont, IL, Danny McNeely of Brookfield, IL, and John McNeely of Louisiana; 3 daughters , Mary (and Dale) Detman of LaGrange, IL, Patty (and Rick) Grant of Lemont, IL, and Maureen (Mike) Breskey of Burr Ridge, IL; 9 grandchildren ; 3 brothers , Ralph (and Theda) McNeely of Chillicothe, IL, Fred (and Joan) McNeely of Princeville, IL, and Dale (and Lee) McNeely of San Bruno, CA; and 2 sisters , Dorothy Henry of Princeville, IL, and Shirley (and Scott) Gibson of Peoria , IL . He parents, and three sisters preceded him in death.

He was a Korean War Veteran receiving the Purple Heart. He was a member of Princeville VFW Post #1255. He worked at First National Bank of Chicago , and was a driver for Jewel Tea. He also worked at Material Services Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1989.

Funeral Mass was 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2002 , at St. Barbara Church in Brookfield . Visitation was held from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2002 , at Hitzeman Funeral Home, Broofkfield. Entombment was in Christ the King Mausoleum in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside .
