Obituary of Leila E. Smith

Princeville - Leila E. Smith, 92, of 500 Centennial Dr. , East Peoria , formerly of Princeville, died at 6:23 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2002 , at Methodist Medical Center , Peoria .

Born January 1, 1910 , in Edelstein , Illinois , the daughter of Robert and Amelia Friedman Oertley, she married Orville E. "Mike" Smith on May 30,1932 , in Princeville. He died May 28, 1991 , in Peoria .

Surviving are 3 sons , Arden (and Donna) Smith of Dayton, OH, Robert (and Della) Smith of Loveland, CO, and Orville L. (and Elizabeth) Smith of Austin, TX; 6 grandchildren ; and 6 great-grandchildren .

She was a member of the Peoria County Farm Bureau and a lifetime member of Royal Neighbors. She also was a member of the Princeville United Methodist Church .

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2002 , at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Rev. Mary Kathryn Pearce will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 til 8 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2002 , at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home. Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery , Princeville.
