Obituary of Pat Christopher

Princeville - Virginia P. "Pat" Christopher, 82, a resident of St. Joseph 's Home in West Peoria , for the past few years, formerly of rural Princeville, died 9:35 a.m. Sunday, April 20, 2003 , at Methodist Medical Center , Peoria .

Born April 3, 1921 , in Peoria , Illinois , the daughter of Harry P. and Virginia Haupt Faye, she married George Thomas Christopher on May 25, 1940 , in Peoria . He preceded her in death on May 31, 1996 , in Peoria .

Surviving are 2 daughters , Judy (Mrs. Duane) Richoz of Denver, CO, and Colleen "Chris" (and Frank) Timmermann of Chillicothe, IL; 1 son , Guy (and Beverly) Christopher of Mahomet , IL ; 7 grandchildren ; 10 great-grandchildren ; and 1 sister , Harriett (and Frank) McNeill of Denver, CO. Her parents and two brothers preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and seasonal worker at Princeville Canning Company for over 30 years, where she became the first woman supervisor. She was also a former Republican precinct committee chairperson and was well known for her many interests and wry sense of humor. She was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, Princeville, and its Altar & Rosary Society.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2003 , at her church. Monsignor Richard Soseman will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2003 , at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, with recitation of Rosary at 8:00 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 9:00 til 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2003 , at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery , Princeville.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Parish Center Building Fund or St. Joseph 's Home, West Peoria .
