Obituary of Hazel M. Covington Dunlap - Hazel M. Covington, 97, formerly of Dunlap , Illinois , died at 7:30 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2003 , at Heritage Manor in Chillicothe , where she was a resident. Born April 28, 1906 , in Milton , Iowa , the daughter of Delbert and Laura Lohr Mitchell, she married Ralph Covington on May 14, 1927 , in Milton , Iowa . He died April 30, 1969 , in Dunlap. Surviving are 1 daughter , Carol (and Frank) Smith of Dunlap , IL ; 3 grandchildren ; 7 great-grandchildren ; and 2 great-great-grandchildren . Her parents, one son, Ronald Covington, one sister and one brother preceded her in death. She graduated from Bradley University , Peoria . She taught school at Potter and Salem Schools in rural Dunlap, then Dunlap Grade School , retiring in 1971. She was a former member of Rebekah Lodge, Dunlap; Pi Lamda Theta Sorority; and Radnor Grange in Dunlap. She also was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church , Dunlap. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2003 , at Prospect Cemetery , Dunlap. Visitation will be from 1:00 til 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2003 , at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery .
