Obituary of Dwight J. Gallup
Edelstein - Dwight J. Gallup, 89, of rural Edelstein, died Saturday morning, November 22, 2003 , at Methodist Medical Center , Peoria .
Born November 4, 1914 , near Edelstein, the son of Roscoe H. and Mary Jones Gallup, he married Hazel Howard on October 29, 1937 , in Salem , IL .
She survives, along with 1 son, Roger (and Sharon) of Chillicothe, 1 daughter, Beverly (and Hill) Carlen of Cookeville, TN, 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and1 sister, Dorothy Moore of Aurora, CO. Preceding him in death was 1 brother and 1 sister.
A graduate of Princeville High School , he went in to farming with his father on the Gallup Homestead where he remained the rest of his life.
He was a past member of the Edelstein Grade School Board, the Princeville High School Board, First National Bank of Chillicothe Board, served 26 years as Hallock Township Auditor, as well as the Edelstein Water Works Coop, and the Blue Ridge Cemetery Association. He was a member of the Arrowhead Country Club, Edelstein, the former Lawn Ridge Lodge #415, AF&AM, and served as Master in 1951, member of Royal Arch Masons Chapter #133, Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria , and Mohammed Temple, Shrine.
He was a member of Edelstein Congregational UCC Church since 1929, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2003 . Rev. Darrin Fish will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4:00 p.m. and then from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2003 , at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, and also one half hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery .
