Obituary of Robert L. Pierson
Edelstein - Robert L. Pierson, 82 of Edelstein, died at 4:57 A.M. on Saturday, May 3, 2003 , at his residence.
He was born January 29, 1921 , in Peoria , Illinois , the son of Elmer A. and Hulda Johnson Pierson, he married Virginia R. Potter on September 19, 1941 , in Edelstein. She survives.
Also surviving are 1 daughter Nancy (and Jack M.) Gleich of Princeville, Illinois; 1 son , Randall S. (Marsha) Pierson of rural Princeville, Illinois; 5 grandchildren ; 2 great granddaughters ; 1 step great grandson ; and 1 sister , Wilma (and Jack) Fry of Dunlap, Illinois. His parents and one sister, Dorothy Shaw preceded him in death.
A World War II U.S. Army Veteran, he served in the Burma-India Theater as a member of the 497 th Engineer Heavy Shop Company.
He and his wife were in a shared partnership with his brother-in-law James Potter in operation of Potter Implement Company, a John Deere dealership in Edelstein, along with the Hub Ballroom until both were sold in the mid 1970's. He also farmed in the Dunlap area until retiring in 2001.
He was a member of the former Lawn Ridge Masonic Lodge #415, AF&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria , Mohammed Temple, Shrine, and Dunlap American Legion Post #1078, and a member of the Edelstein Congregational UCC Church.
Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 7, 2003 , at his church. Rev. Richard Sather & Chaplain Frank Valente will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to memorial services at the church. Burial of ashes will be at Prospect Cemetery , Dunlap.
Memorial contributions may be made to his church or Methodist Medical Center Hospice Services.
