Obituary of Ralph R. Potter

Edwards - Ralph Ray Potter, 71, of 5517 Heinz Lane , died at 12:15 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2003 , at his residence. [Natural Causes]

Born February 25, 1932 , in Maquon , IL , the son of Alvin Dean and Iva Simpkins Potter, he married Linda L. Hallberg on February 19, 2000 , in Princeville. She survives, along with 5 sons , Terry L. Potter of Dunlap, Gary R. (Lori) Potter of Chillicothe, Mike D. (Ann Marie) Potter of Speer, Jeff L. Potter of Princeville, and Kevin S. (Shelly) Potter of Wyoming; 2 step-daughters , Mary (Mark) Derham of Knoxville, IL, and Rebecca Lambert of Kickapoo; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren ; 2 brothers , Harold Potter and Glenn (Evelyn) Potter, both of Galesburg; and 2 sisters, Ilene Gawthrop and Eloise Hanson, both of Knoxville, IL. He was preceded in death by both parents and 3 brothers.

He worked for CILCO for 28 years in the Forestry Department, retiring in 1988. He then owned and operated Potter Stump Removal, last working Friday, July 25 th . A U.S. Army veteran, he served in an army airborne division during the Korean War.

He was a Life Member of the Elmwood VFW Post, and a member of both the Knoxville American Legion and the Peoria Chapter of the Izaak Walton League.

Funeral services will be at 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2003 , at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Rev. Michel D. Clark will officiate [Note: Spelling of "Michel" is correct.] . Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. Monday until the time of the service. Cremation will follow. Graveside service of ashes will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003 , at Swan Lake Memory Gardens , Peoria .
