Marta J. Wear

Peoria - Marta J. Wear, 81, of 1201 W. Northmoor Rd. , formerly of rural Princeville, died at 1:05 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2003 , at Proctor Hospital .

Born June 28, 1922 , in Bozeman , MT , the daughter of L. Ross and Noma Wyatt Johnson, she married Byron F. "Tuck" Wear on October 20, 1950 , in Peoria . He died April 1, 1993 , in Peoria . Also preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Bonnie Price.

Surviving are 2 sons, Boyd Wear (Nannette) of North Webster , IN , and Byron Ross (Linda) Wear of Bloomington, IL, and 3 grandchildren.

She attended Stephens College for Women in Columbia , MO , and earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma , Norman , OK . She taught Business and English at Woodruff High School and later Princeville High School until retiring. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority of the University of Oklahoma , D.A.R., American Legion Auxiliary, Princeville, and was a former member of the University Women's Club. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Princeville.

She donated her body to medical science through the Anatomical Gift Association, Chicago.

A memorial service will beat 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2003 , at her church. Rev. Harry Losey will officiate. There will be no visitation, however the family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Memorial contributions may be made to Akron/Princeville Ambulance Service, or Shriner's Hospital.
