Obituary of Lewis L. Hasselbacher

Williamsfield - Lewis L. Hasselbacher, 94, a resident of the Knox County Nursing Home, formerly of Williamsfield and Princeville, died at 9:10 p.m. Thursday, January 1, 2004 , at the nursing home.

Born October 1, 1909 , in Jubilee Township , Peoria County , the son of Joseph Ludwig and Minnie S. Shane Hasselbacher, he first married Mildred Koreane Craig in 1933. Later he married Marie Miars on December 30, 1947 , in Iowa . She died October 28, 1987 , in Galesburg . Also preceding him in death was 1 son, DeRoy "Butch" Hasselbacher in 1984, and 3 brothers.

Surviving is 1 son, Larry L. (and Lyle) Hasselbacher of Princeville, 1 daughter, Sylvia (and Harley) Stoller of Dawsonville, GA, 3 step-sons, John Miars of Quincy, IL, Roger and Gerald Miars, both of East Peoria, IL, 4 step-daughters, Ruth McCoy of Trivoli, IL, Barbara Stephen of Decatur, TX, Eileen Hanna of Ferndale, WA, and Janet (and Bill) Spencer of Williamsfield, IL, 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild, 38 step grandchildren, 47 step-great grandchildren, and 22 step great great grandchildren, 1 brother, Orville Hasselbacher of Yates City, IL, and 1 sister, Ruth Kelly of Grand Haven, MI.

He farmed near Williamsfield for many years until retiring. He was a member of the Peoria County Farm Bureau, both the Princeville Senior Citizens and the Williamsfield Senior Citizens groups, and a member of Princeville United Methodist Church .

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2004 , at his church. Rev. David Allin will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2004, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, and a half hour prior to the funeral service on Monday. Burial will be in Brimfield Cemetery .
