Obituary of Sylvena R. Heward

Peoria - Sylvena R. Heward, 92, a resident of Manor Care Health Services, formerly of B'nai Brith Apartments, died at 9:50 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2004 , at OSF St. Francis Medical Center , where she was admitted January 2 nd .

Born October 12, 1911 , in Princeton , IL , the daughter of Silas "Pete" and Ruby Gertrude Lockhart Peterson, she married Ernest E. Heward on September 14, 1929 . He died July 4, 1980 , in Sheffield , IL . Also preceding her in death was 1 daughter, Rozina Heward, and 1 son, Harold L. Heward.

Surviving is 1 son, Duane F. (and Polly) Heward of Peoria, 1 daughter, Neva L. (and Russell) Wager of Peoria, 7 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 11 step-great grandchildren.

She was a schoolteacher for many years at Pleasant Valley Grade School , and later was the central Illinois sales representative for Curtis Publishing until retiring. She attended Glen Oak Christian Church.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. , Saturday, January 17, 2004 , at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Paul B. Isom will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Sheffield Cemetery , Sheffield , IL .
