Obituary of Robert E. Pullen

Princeville - Robert E. Pullen, 82, of Princeville for the past 9 years, formerly of Dunlap, died 6:30 p.m. , Thursday, April 1, 2004 , at OSF St. Francis Medical Center , Peoria , where he was admitted on March 28, 2004 .

Born April 12, 1921 , in Peoria County , Illinois , the son of William and Lillie Turner Pullen, he married Erma J. Mankle on July 31, 1942 , in Kahoka , MO. She survives.

Also surviving are 2 sons, Billy E. (and Louise) Pullen of Princeville , IL , and Robert C. (and Jean) Pullen of Sunrise Beach, MO; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Grace Lemm of Peoria , IL . His parents, four sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.

He was a graduate of Dunlap High School . He was a pipe fitter in the maintenance department at Caterpillar Tractor Company for 43 years, retiring in 1982. He was a World War II Army Veteran, serving in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a lifetime member of the Dunlap American Legion Post. He also was a member of the Alta Lodge #748, AF&AM, and the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria .

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 5, 2004 , at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Rev. Mary Kathryn Pearce (please use both names) will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 4, 2004 , at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, with Masonic Services at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens , Peoria , with military graveside services by his American Legion Post.

Memorial contributions may be made to Akron/Princeville Ambulance Service or Prospect United Methodist Church .
