Monica - Victor A. Renken, 81, of Monica, died 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2004 , at his residence.
Born October 6, 1922 , near Dana , Illinois , the son of Willy and Nona Margarrette Anton Renken, he married Veldalou Virginia Bost on April 16, 1949 , in Dana , IL .
She survives, along with 5 sons, Michael (and April) of Streator, Robert of Monica, Scott (and Lori) of Peru, IL, Keith (and Susan) of Deer Creek, IL, and Brian (and Virginia) of Springfield, IL; 15 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 2 step- great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Emily (and Clifford) Holt, Annabelle Halberg, and Marjorie Barth, all of Minonk; 2 brothers, John (and Fran) of Graymont, IL, and Roy (and Loretta) of Emden, IL. He was preceded in death by 1 son, Thomas, 1 daughter, Christine Walter, and 1 brother.
He served in the US Army during WWII. He first worked for Smith-Douglas Fertilizer in Streator. He later worked for Joan of Arc Canning Company in Streator from 1953 until the plant was closed in 1971. He then worked for Joan of Arc Canning Company in Princeville as a warehouse foreman and as a boiler operator until retiring in 1987.
He was a member of the Monica United Methodist Church where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2004 . Rev. Marc Brown will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2004 , at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, in Minonk Township Cemetery , Minonk , IL .
