Obituary of Mary Vera Slane Princeville - Mary Vera Slane, 77, of Princeville, died 10:35 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2004 , at Proctor Hospital , Peoria . Born September 23, 1927 , in Princeville , Illinois , the daughter of Wilber P. and Rosa Nettie Lawrence Slane. Surviving are 2 sisters, Josephine Slane of Princeville , IL , and Susan Schertz of Peoria Heights , IL ; and half-sister, Elza Peck of Peoria , IL . Her parents preceded her in death. She worked as a telephone operator for General Telephone in Princeville, and later she worked for Princeville State Bank, for 39 years, retiring as Assistant Cashier in 1993. She was a Life Charter member of the Historical Association of Princeville, where she served as Treasurer. She also was a member of the Peoria Historical Society, Peoria County Old Settlers, Peoria County Farm Bureau, and a 65-year member of First Presbyterian Church, Princeville, where she served as Treasurer for several years. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 11, 2004 , at her church. Rev. Harry Losey will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 2004 , at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, Princeville. Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery , Princeville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Historical Association of Princeville or Akron/Princeville Ambulance Service. Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, is in charge of arrangements.
