Princeville - Donald G. Streitmatter, 73, of Princeville, died at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, March 7, 2004 , at Sioux Valley Hospital , Sioux Falls , SD.
Born July 1, 1930 , in Stark County , Illinois , the son of Jeff and Martha Siebenthal Streitmatter, Sr, he married Mary Lou Meyer on June 26, 1960 , in Lester , Iowa .
She survives, along with 3 daughters, Donna (and Kimm) Smith of Bloomington, IL, Ema Streitmatter of Bloomington, IL, and Anne (and Craig) Thistlethwaite of Lake Zurich, IL, 2 sons, Jim (and Sheri) Streitmatter of Kewanee, IL, and Mark (and Sara) Streitmatter of Bloomington, IL; 8 grandchildren, Brian, Blair, and Brooke Smith, Jarod and Madison Carrasca, Erik, Shauna, and Isaiah Streitmatter; 5 sisters, Lucille Beyer of Peoria, Sylvia (and Wilmer) Blunier of Roanoke, IL, Doris Rocke of Sarasota, FL, Geraldine Streitmatter of Princeville, and Shirley Kieser of Princeville, 3 brothers, Paul (and Mary) Streitmatter of Peoria, Jeff, Jr (and Ruth) of Sarasota, FL, and Alf (and Ginny) of Princeville; many nieces and nephews. 2 sisters and 1 brother preceded him in death.
He served in the U.S. Army in Panama during the Korean War, then later worked for Foster Jacobs Electrical Contractors in Peoria for 5 years. In 1960, he and his brothers founded Economy Builders and Supply Company, retiring from the family business in 1988. He was a former board member at the Eureka Apostolic Christian Home , Eureka , and Apostolic Christian Skylines, Inc, Peoria .
He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, Princeville, where services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2004 . Ministers of the church will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4:00 p.m. , then 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2004 , at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, 304 N Walnut Ave. , Princeville, and also from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at church on Thursday. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery .

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was always willing to help others, and he will be greatly missed.
