Born January 26, 1917, in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Roy W. and Mary Williamson Marshall, she married Riley I. Boyer on September 3, 1939, in Peoria. He died December 9, 1990, in Peoria.
Surviving are 2 sons, Gary (and Joyce) Boyer of Peoria, IL, and Richard (and Carol) Boyer of Dunlap, IL; 3 grandchildren, Dennis Boyer of Dunlap, IL, Jason Boyer of Rochester, NY, and Meghan Boyer of Madison, WI; and 2 great-grandchildren. Her parents, one brother, Clifford Marshall, and three sisters, Helen Taylor, Martha Purtscher, and Florence Wright preceded her in death.
She worked at Tri-Me Potato Chip Co, Peoria, and then Pabst Malt Plant for three years during World War II. Later, she was a cook at Dunlap Unit District 323 at Wilder-Waite School for 27 years, retiring in 1977.
She volunteered at the American Red Cross and Southside Mission, both in Peoria, and was a member of the Dunlap Chapter of the Peoria County Home Extension. She was an active member since age 13 at First United Methodist Church, Peoria, serving funeral luncheons for many years.
Cremation has been accorded.
A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2005, at Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Peoria. A Memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2005, at First United Methodist Church, Peoria, where family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. Vonna Lou Larson will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to her church, Southside Mission, OSF St. Francis Hospice, or to Bel-Wood Nursing Home.
