Obituary of Charles R. Burns

Princeville - Charles R. Burns, 81, of Princeville, died at 3:43 p.m. , Tuesday, February 8, 2005 , at Heritage Manor, in Chillicothe , IL .

Born April 17, 1923 , in Princeville , Illinois , the son of Charles Earl and Blanche Hayes Burns, he married Agnes Foster on September 2, 1940 , in Palmyra , MO. She survives.

Also surviving are 3 sons, Dorance Carlson , Frank Burns and Billie Burns both of Peoria, IL; 2 daughters, Ruth Pickel of Peoria, IL, and Shirley Crotts of Princeville, IL; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and 4 sisters, Ethel (and Cecil) Dallinger of Princeville, IL, Leadelle (and Jack) Ely of Toulon, IL, Marian (and Gale) Koch of Lacon, IL, and Elsie (and Jessy) Quinn of Abingdon, IL. His parents, three brothers, one sister, and one great-granddaughter preceded him in death.

He was a World War II Navy Veteran. He worked for Peoria Water Company for many years before retiring. He was of the Methodist faith.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2005 , at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Rev. Fred Reiner will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral service. Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery , Princeville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
