Obituary of Edward J. Gilles
Edwards - Edward J. Gilles, 45, of rural Edwards, died at 9:28 a.m. Monday, February 7, 2005 , at his residence.
Born October 17, 1959 , in Peoria , Illinois , the son of Robert A. "Pete" and Arlene M. Toft Gilles, he married Diana M. Carroll on October 20, 1984 , in Brimfield , IL . She survives.
Also surviving is his mother of rural Edwards, IL; 1 daughter, Courtney L. Gilles and 1 son, Mark E. Gilles, both at home; 1 brother, Gary (and Priscilla) Gilles of rural Edwards, IL; and 4 sisters, Kathleen (and Victor) Carter of Wyoming, IL, Arlene M. (and William) Cox of Edwards, IL; and Barbara (and Carl) Will and Mary Ann (and Rich) Mercer both of Princeville, IL. His father preceded him in death.
He worked at Caterpillar Mossville Plant as a machinist. A member of UAW Local 974, he was a union steward for over 20 years. He was a member of the Kickapoo Sportsmen's Club and past member of the Brimfield Fire Department where he served as a First Responder for many years. He coached Little League Baseball in Kickapoo for many years, and he was Past Grand Knight in Bishop Rosati Council 5034 of the Knights of Columbus.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Brimfield, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 11, 2005 . Rev. Father Lawrence Morrissey will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2005 , at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, with Recitation of the Rosary at 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Kickapoo.
