Obituary of Virginia F. Lay
Peoria - Virginia Fulton Lay, 87, a resident of Riverview Senior Living Community in East Peoria, a life long Peoria resident and a direct descendent of Josiah Fulton,
one of Peoria's original settlers, died 1:15 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Manor Care at Riverview.
Born November 15, 1917, in Peoria , the daughter of Lloyd and Jeanette Fulton Livings, she married Ellery E. Lay on December 5, 1939, in Mt. Pleasant, IA. He died April 21, 1987, in Peoria .
Surviving is 1 son, Randy (and Phyllis) Lay of East Peoria, IL; 3 daughters, Bettie (and Doug) Crawford of Punta Gorda, FL, Bobbie (and John) Nack of Fort Meyers, FL, and Valerie (and Earl) Dunham of Edina, MN; 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren also survive.
She was a 1935 graduate of Peoria High School. She was self-employed as a representative with HODA (House of Decorative Accessories) for 12 years. She was a member of Otho Temple #36, Daughters of the Nile in Peoria .
She was a member of Glen Oak Christian Church for 77 years, where she served as an Elder, president of Christian Women's Fellowship, representative to Church Women United, and taught the Golden Circle Class for many years.
Funeral services will be at 12 noon , Monday, April 25, at Glen Oak Christian Church, 1115 E. Republic, Peoria. Rev. Dr. Paul B. Isom will officiate. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery.
