Obituary of Mattie B. Mankle

Dunlap-Mattie B. Mankle, 84, of Dunlap, died at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, August 21, 2005, at her home in Dunlap.

Born December 26, 1920, in Fairbury, Nebraska, the daughter of Frank W. and Phoebe J. Curry Grant, she married Lloyd H. Mankle on June 12, 1937, in Peoria. He survives.

Also surviving are 1 son, Jim (and Judy) Mankle, of Chillicothe, IL; 2 daughters, Sharon (and the late Robert) Sipp, Galva, IL, and Betty (and Thomas) Holmes, Vienna, VA; 9 Grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren; and 4 Step Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter Judy Mankle, 1 brother Frank Grant and 1 sister Gertie Grant.

She owned and operated a beauty salon out of her own home for many years. She was a member and past president of Rebekah Fern Lodge I.O.O.F, Dunlap, and was district #7 president in 1961. She was a former member of the Prospect United Methodist Church in Dunlap. She often volunteered her time in the Dunlap School District and the Prospect United Methodist church where her children attended.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 25, 2005, at the Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Pastor Joel J. Gray will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Peoria.
