Princeville - William L. “Bill” Noonen, 65, of Princeville, died at 4:45 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2005, at Proctor Hospital, Peoria.

Born June 12, 1940, in Princeville, Illinois, the son of Michael Clement and Zelma Grace Bouton Noonen, he married Beverly Stokes on November 24, 1964, in Toulon, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are 2 sons, Timothy (and Susan) Noonen and Chris (and Suzi) Noonen both of Princeville, IL; 1 daughter, Becky (and Corey) Benefiel of Peoria, IL; 3 grandchildren, Brody Noonen, Hunter Noonen, and Jadyn Benefiel; 4 sisters, Marilyn (and Don) Dell of Princeville, IL, Joan (and Dick) Schmitt of Edwards, IL, Nancy (and Rich) Schaub, and Caryl (and John) Hanley both of Kickapoo, IL; and several nieces and nephews. His parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.

He was a United States Army Veteran, serving in Korea from 1961 to 1962. He was a heavy equipment operator, working out of the Operating Engineers Local #649, retiring in 1998. He was a lifetime member of the Princeville American Legion Post #248 and Princeville Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Cremation has been accorded.

Private burial of ashes with military rites conducted by Princeville American Legion Post #248 will be held at a later date. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2005, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville.
