Mabel M. Schafer
Chillicothe - Mabel M. Schafer, 89, formerly of rural Chillicothe, died at 10:50 p.m. Thursday, September 15, 2005, at Apostolic Christian Skylines, Peoria, where she was a resident. Born January 10, 1916, in Grover Hill, Ohio, the daughter of Aaron and Wilhelminna Schick Stoller, she married Walter L. Schafer on April 21, 1935, Peoria. He died June 8, 1973. Also preceding her in death was 1 daughter, Kathryn Welch, 4 brothers, and one sister. Surviving are 2 daughters, Madalyn Zoss of Streator, IL, and Shelby (and Allen) Williamson of Chillicothe, IL; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Pearl Garber of Lowpoint, IL. She worked as a cook for area restaurants and also was a skilled seamstress for Princess Peggy in Peoria for 20 years until retiring. She was a member of the Princeville Apostolic Christian Church, where services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2005. Ministers of the church will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, as well as from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Apostolic Christian Skylines, Inc. |
