Obituary of Milford L. Streitmatter
Peoria - Milford L. Streitmatter, 83, of Peoria, died at 11:09 a.m. Wednesday,
August 24, 2005, at Eureka Community Hospital, Eureka, Illinois.
Born November 1, 1921, in Alta, Illinois, the son of John and Hulda Schneider Streitmatter, he married Danny Jean Daub on February 1, 1947, in Peoria, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are 2 sons, Steven L. (and Fran) Streitmatter of rural Princeville, IL, and Gary A. (and Pam) Streitmatter of Peoria, IL; 4 granddaughters; and 2 sisters, Evelyn Reeser of Eureka, IL, and Della Schweigert of Tremont, IL. His parents, three sisters and one grandson preceded him in death.
He was a World War II Army Veteran, serving in Patton’s 3rd Army Infantry in the European Theater. He farmed for a time in Peoria County. He later worked as a carpenter for Bud Schielein Construction and later for Bilt-Rite Construction, Peoria. Then he became a self-employed carpenter retiring in 1985.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Peoria, where he served on the Property Board. He also served on the Wilder-Waite Elementary School Board from 1961 until 1969.
A private family burial will be in Streitmatter Cemetery, rural Princeville, IL. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2005, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Peoria. Rev. Gerald Freudenburg will officiate.
