Obituary of Dorothy D. Swanson

Princeville - Dorothy Del Rae Swanson, 86, of Princeville, died at 8:42 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Proctor Hospital, Peoria, where she had been a patient since February 27th.

Born June 27, 1918, in Princeville Township, Peoria County, the daughter of William Harry and Mildred Blanchard Hofer, she married Kenneth A. Swanson on August 20, 1939, in Stark County . He died August 9, 2001, in Princeville. Also preceding her in death was 1 brother, William Hofer, and 1 great granddaughter, Jaimee Leigh Schaefer.

Surviving is 1 son, Robert E. (and Sue) Swanson of Peoria; 2 daughters, Sandra E. Besett of Willowick, OH , and Judith (and Elbert) King of Princeville; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

She was a postal clerk at the Princeville Post Office for 30 years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Peoria Ostomy Club, and a member of Princeville United Methodist Church.

Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Princeville United Methodist Church . Rev. Rex Hendrix will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church or to the Akron-Princeville Ambulance Service.
