Obituary of Raymond E. Witherell
East Peoria - Raymond E. Witherell, 75, of East Peoria, died at 10:15 p.m.
Saturday, February 26, 2005, at Rosewood Care Center, East Peoria.
Born October 25, 1929, in Peoria, the son of Clyde Earl and Ruie Imo Keller Witherell, he married Jeanne Louise Coats on July 12, 1953 in Biloxi, MS.
She survives, along with 1 son, Daniel R. Witherell of Houston, TX; 2 daughters, Patricia (and Daniel) Jacob of Jacksonville, FL, and Bonnie (and Vernon) Wilfinger of East Peoria; and 4 grandchildren. His parents, 1 brother, Arden Witherell, 1 infant brother, and 1 sister, Marjorie Christopher, preceded him in death.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 until 1957 during the Korean War. He later worked for Herschel Manufacturing, and then worked in insurance sales for many years until retiring in 1992. He was a charter member of the Peoria Chapter of the American Diabetes Association, serving as its first president.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at The Wilton Mortuary, Peoria. Rev. Dr. Paul B. Isom will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Princeville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Peoria Chapter of the American Diabetes Association.
