Obituary of Bertha M. Archibald

Brimfield – Bertha M. Archibald, 96, of Brimfield, died at 11:28 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2006, at the Methodist Medical Center Emergency Department, Peoria.


Born February 9, 1910, in Hanna City, the daughter of Richard and Hattie Johnson Pillman, she married William A. Archibald on October 21, 1939, in Keokuk, IA. He preceded her in death on May 21, 1991, in Peoria. Also preceding her in death were two brothers and two sisters.

Surviving is one son, Dick (and Marsha) Archibald of Brimfield; one daughter, Mary Nell (and John) Simpson of Avon, IL; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren; and one brother, Russell (and Geraldine) Pillman of Brimfield.

She was a member of the Brimfield American Legion Auxiliary #452 where she was past president of the 16th District, a member of AMVETS of Peoria Auxiliary, and a former member of 8et40, Peoria. She was a member of the Manx Association, Peoria, Brimfield Unit Chairperson for the Salvation Army, volunteered at Wildlife Prairie Park, was a former member of the Farmington Moose Lodge. She was of the Methodist faith.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at the Brimfield United Methodist Church. John Simpson, her son-in-law, will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at the Brimfield United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Peoria.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brimfield American Legion Auxiliary, the Brimfield Fire Department, or the Brimfield United Methodist Church.
