Princeville – Joan A. Berchtold, 64, of Princeville, formerly of rural Speer, died at 9:20 p.m., Saturday, February 11, 2006, at her residence.

Joan was born September 27, 1941, in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Louis and Helen Miller Baer; she married Lavern F. Berchtold on March 18, 1962, in Princeville. He survives.

Also surviving is 1 son, David (and Leann) Berchtold of Edelstein, IL; 1 daughter, Mary Beth (and Curt) Wagenbach of Toulon, IL; 9 grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Wilma Walder of Cissna Park, IL, and Gloria White of Dunlap, IL. Her parents preceded her in death.

She and Lavern farmed in rural Speer for many years. Joan also volunteered at Proctor Hospital, Peoria, for several years.

She was a member of Apostolic Christian Church, Princeville, where funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2006. Ministers of the Church will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2006, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, and also 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday at the Church. Burial will be in Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, Princeville.
