Phyllis Collins was born February 12, 1920, in Stark, Illinois, the daughter of Everett Carse and Anna Mae McCurdy Jackson. She married William John Collins on December 22, 1943, in Stark. He died December 10, 2001, in Peoria, IL.
Surviving are two sons, William Ladd (and Bonnie) Collins of Alpharetta, GA, and Robert Dean (and Patsy) Collins of Kenai, AK; one daughter, Sue Ann (and Steve) Race of Chandler, AZ; eight grandchildren; one brother, Dean (and Irma Jean) Jackson of Speer, IL; and sister-in-law, Ruth Jackson of Wyoming, IL. Her parents, one brother, Robert Jackson, and one infant sister, Evelyn, preceded her in death.
She graduated from Wyoming High School and Bradley University, Peoria. She taught grade school for many years, first in Toulon, then at Fox School in rural Stark County, retiring from Princeville Grade School in 1981 after teaching third grade there for many years.
She was a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association and the Princeville United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2006, at her church. Pastor Rex Hendrix will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Wyoming Cemetery, Wyoming.
