Princeville – Elbert L. King, 69, of Princeville, died at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2006, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, where he was a patient since January 27, 2006.

Elbert was born March 25, 1936, in Princeville, Illinois, the son of Paul Samuel and Gladys Marie Lester King, he married Judith A. Swanson on February 20, 1959, in Keosauqua, IA. She survives.

Also surviving is his mother of Kewanee, IL; 2 sons, Jeffrey L. King of Princeville, IL, and Robert W. (and Kathleen) King of Hopewell, IL; 1 daughter, Paula Kristine “PK” King of Princeville, IL; 4 granddaughters; and 2 brothers, Paul Ivan King of Schaumburg, IL, and Wayne Stanley King of St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his father and paternal grandmother, Nellie Minor, who raised him.

He owned and operated Kewanee Quality Pest Control for 18 years, retiring in 1999. Elbert was an avid trap shooter and was a member of Chillicothe Sportsman Club, Smithfield Gun Club, American Rifle Association, and the Izaak Walton League in Kewanee.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

He was a member of Princeville United Methodist Church, where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2006. Rev. Rex. Hendrix will officiate. The family will receive friends at a luncheon following the memorial service at the church. Burial of ashes will be in Princeville Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Akron/Princeville Ambulance Service or Princeville United Methodist Church.
