Obituary of Ruthie M. Kirtley
Castleton – Ruthie M. Kirtley, 86, formerly of Castleton, died at 2:30 a.m. Friday,
July 7, 2006, at Morton Terrace, Morton, where she was a resident for the past eight years.
Born October 25, 1919, in Waynesville, Illinois, the daughter of Thomas and Mayme McCallister Winebrinner, she married James Kirtley on March 16, 1939, in Clinton, Illinois. He died April 29, 1993, in Peoria.
Surviving are two daughters, Norma (and Terry) Owsley of Pekin, IL, Linda (and Roy) Montag of Manito, IL; three sons, Montie (and Ruth) Kirtley of Marquette Heights, IL, Daniel Kirtley of Columbus, IN, and Stephen Kirtley of Dover, AR; thirteen grandchildren; twenty eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Her parents, two grandsons and three brothers preceded her in death.
She was a pattern maker for Princess Peggy, Peoria, for several years, where she was a member of the Ladies Garment Workers Union. After retiring, Ruthie resided in Castleton for a number of years before living with her youngest son, Stephen, in Arkansas. Later, she made her home with her daughter, Linda, in Manito, before her stay at Morton Terrace. She was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2006, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Rev. Joe Hamilton will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2006, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Peoria.
