She graduated from London Mills High School and after receiving her teacher’s degree from Western State Teacher’s College in Macomb, IL, she taught in one room school houses until the birth of her first child. She took over the position of Princeville Township Supervisor following the death of her husband, serving until that term expired.
Most Holidays were spent by all the family at the farm, having easter egg hunts and weiner roasts by the lake. Her favorite activities involved being in the out-of-doors, gardening, flowers, identifying bird & tree species, playing bridge and mushroom hunting.
Many a family discussion was climaxed by a call to Mother to consult her faithfully kept journal for information. She was always unconditionally forgiving of our faults and problems.
