Obituary of Darlene M. Mathisen

Princeville – Darlene M. Mathisen, 78, of rural Princeville, died at 9:50 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2006, at Heartland Health Care Center, Henry, entering to eternal life with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She entered physical life on May 10, 1927, in Stronghurst, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph and Florence Dowell Wilcox. Darlene married Richard “Dick” Mathisen on August 12, 1950, in Moline, Illinois.

He survives, along with two daughters, Linda (and Rick) Schupbach of Princeville, and Nancy (and Kirk) Potter of Chillicothe; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lois Spurgeon of rural Princeville also survives. Six brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

She worked for L.R. Nelson Company, Frank Graves Oil Company, and retired from Princeville State Bank in 1977. She was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church in Princeville where she served in various capacities and taught Sunday School.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2006, at First Presbyterian Church, Princeville. Rev. Harry Losey will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Princeville Cemetery.
