Obituary of Harold E. Robinson

Princeville – Harold E. Robinson, Jr., 60, of rural Princeville, died at 12:48 am Tuesday, August 8, 2006, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.  He was born July 1, 1946, in Peoria, the son of Harold E. Sr. and Dora Masters Robinson.  He married Karen Johnson on January 17, 2004, in Princeville.  She survives. 

Also surviving is one son, Chris Robinson, of Morton; one daughter, Catherine Cole of East Peoria; his mother, Dora Widdows of Peoria Heights; one stepson, Jordan Gross of Fields Landing, CA; one stepdaughter, Laura (and Dan) Bennett of Spokane WA; 4 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; and two brothers, Mike (and Pat) Robinson of Bartonville and Jim (and Dian) Robinson of Punta Gorda, FL.  He was preceded in death by his father.

He served in the United States Air Force during the Viet Nam era.  He began working for Illinois Bell in the 1960’s as a lineman and retired in 2002 as a telephone systems technician with Lucent Technologies.  He was a life member of VFW Post 2602 in Peoria Heights, was active with the Brimfield Men’s Club, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

He enjoyed traveling, most recently to Mexico in 2003, Belize and Guatemala in 2005, and was planning a trip to the state of Washington this fall.

He attended Princeville United Methodist Church, where memorial services will be held on Friday, August 11, 2006, at 11:00 a.m.  Rev. Rex Hendrix will officiate.  There will be no visitation; however, the family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.  Cremation has been accorded.  A private graveside service will take place at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
