Obituary of Ralph L. Shane

Monica – Ralph L. Shane, 88, of Monica, passed away at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at Illinois Valley Community Hospital, Peru, IL.image

Born on December 14, 1917, in Speer, Illinois, the son of Sylvester J. and Rose Wilcox Shane, he married Margaret F. Belford on May 20, 1945, in Princeville, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Robert (and Geri) Shane of East Peoria, IL, Richard (and Debbie) Shane and Frederick (and Laura) Shane both of Peoria, IL; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vivian Duppert of East Peoria, IL, and Jean Juricich of California; and one brother, Sherman Shane of rural Wyoming, IL.

He was a World War II veteran serving in the Coast Guard. He worked at R.G. LeTourneau and was a farmer. He was a member of the Monica United Methodist Church, Monica, and Princeville American Legion Post #248.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2006, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Rev. David Koehler will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home. Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery, Princeville, with military rites conducted by Princeville American Legion Post #248.

Memorial contributions may be made to Monica United Methodist Church or Akron/Princeville Ambulance Service.
