Obituary of Bernice Blundy

Brimfield - Bernice Blundy, 90, of Brimfield, died at 9:40 am Thursday, April 26, 2007, at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria, where she had been a patient since April 13th.

Born October 30, 1916, in Brimfield, the daughter of Irving and Gertrude Brown Bragg, she married Joseph Reed Blundy on May 31, 1942, in Brimfield.  He died January 16, 1990, in Peoria.  Also preceding her in death were six brothers, two sisters, and one grandson.

Surviving is one son, Jere (and Mary Kay) Blundy of Brimfield; one daughter, Ruth (and Jim) Hutto of Woodridge, IL; five grandchildren, Jeff (and Tara) Blundy, Jill Blundy, Amy (and Tony) Gutzwiller, Jody (and Dave) Daily, and Phil Hutto; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Eileen DeFord of Jacksonville, FL, and Bernice’s twin, Ruth Rowe of Spokane, WA.

Bernice and her husband farmed in the Brimfield area from 1945 to 1969.  She also worked as a secretary for Chicago Title & Trust Co, Peoria.  She was a member of Union Church UCC where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Women’s Fellowship and the Chancel Choir.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Monday, April 30, 2007, at Union Church UCC.  Rev. Earl Menchhofer will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in Brimfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Union Church UCC, PO Box 377, Brimfield 61517.
