Obituary of Berwin L. Dell

Princeville – Berwin L. Dell, 96, of rural Princeville, died 12:50 pm Monday, September 17, 2007, at Heritage Manor, Chillicothe, where he had resided since September 1, 2006.  He formerly resided at River Valley Residence, Chillicothe, for several years.

Berwin was born October 6, 1910, on the Dell family farm southwest of Princeville near Monica to George and Mildred Homan Dell.  He married Evelyn V. Graves on October 6, 1932, in Brimfield.  She preceded him in death on September 24, 2005.  Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Raymond Dell and Earl “Jack” Dell and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Dell.

Surviving are two sons, Robert (and Marge) Dell of Princeville, and Larry Dell of Morton; six grandchildren, Jennifer Dell, Julie (and Larry) Arndt, Lisa (and Scott) Cothrell, Mark (and Jill) Dell, Brian (and Katie) Dell, and Darin (and Stacey) Dell, and six great-grandchildren, Andrew, Daniel, Madison, Olivia, Marissa, and Cecilia.

Berwin was a lifelong farmer in the Princeville area and a member of Peoria County Farm Bureau.  He served on the Duncan School Board and was a member of Illinois Chester White and Duroc Swine Association for many years.

He was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Brimfield, in 1924, at the age of 14, having been a member there for 82 years.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, September 20, 2007, at his church.  Pastor Michael Liese will officiate.  Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.  Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Peoria.
