Obituary of Robert L. Dickerson
Brimfield – Robert L. Dickerson, 86, of Brimfield, died at 5:30 am Monday, April
16, 2007, at his residence.
Robert was born September 22, 1920, in Waynesville, Illinois, the son of Bert L. and Lula F. Cooper Dickerson, he married Lorene Vef on May 18, 1946, in Lincoln, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Gayle (and Jerry) Harrison of Brimfield, and Teri Ford of Galesburg; two sons, Donnie (and Amy) Dickerson of Yates City, and Michael (and Christie) Dickerson of Pottsdam, NY; two grandchildren, Traci Robbins of Crittendon, KY, and Quincy Ford of Lubbock, TX; one sister, Grace Miller of Hopedale; and several nieces and nephews. His parents, three brothers, two sisters, and one grandson, Joshua Baird preceded him in death.
He was a World War II US Army Veteran, serving in the European Theatre. He worked in Engine Testing at Caterpillar Tractor Company, retiring April 1, 1986. He was a member of American Legion Post #452, Brimfield, and the 40 et 8, # 529. He also was a member of Union Church, Brimfield.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be 5:00 pm Saturday, May 12, 2007, at the American Legion Post # 452, Brimfield. Rev. Earl Menchhofer will officiate. Family will receive friends following the service.
