Obituary of Frederick D. Grunert

Princeville – Frederick D. Grunert, 76, of Princeville, formerly of Long Island, KS, died at 9:10 am Saturday, February 10, 2007, at Proctor Hospital, Peoria.

Born May 26, 1930, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Ivan and Lilly Nelson Grunert, he married Irene L. Arbogast on February 13, 1949, at the First Presbyterian Church, Princeville.

She survives, along with one son, Thomas Linn Grunert of Chickasha, OK; three grandchildren, Amy (and William) McGlothlin and Tony Bunnell, both of Lincoln, NE, and Holly (and Mark) Wallace of New York, NY; six great-granchildren; one sister, Dorothy Ann Pierceal of Paola, KS;  and three sisters-in-law, Phyllis (and Roy) Baer of Peoria, Alice Streitmatter of Chillicothe, IL, and Brenda Arbogast of Dunlap.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine K. Bunnell in 1996.

Fred farmed in the Long Island, Kansas area for over 50 years before retiring in 2004.  He was a member of the Princeville United Methodist Church and a former member of the Long Island United Methodist Church.

A visitation for Fred will be from 3 to 5:00 pm Wednesday, February 14, 2007, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home.  Cremation will be accorded following the visitation.  A graveside service will follow at a later date in Alma, Nebraska.
