Helen was born on May 6, 1921, in Dunlap, Illinois, the daughter of Robert C. and Edna M. Mankle Missen, she married Herbert M. Kindilien on March 10, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri. He died June 19, 1980, in Peoria.
Surviving are one daughter, Kathy Ann (and David) Gullette of Dunlap; two sons, Robert M. (and Connie) Kindilien of Chillicothe, and Don L. (and Kathy) Kindilien of Dahinda; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one nephew, Jim Missen of Edina, MO; and a sincere and dearest friend, Eldred Stalker of Sunrise Beach, MO. Her parents and one brother, Robert J. Missen preceded her in death.
Helen first worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company during the war. She then owned and operated Helen’s Beauty Shop in Dunlap and later Opal’s Beauty Shop in Peoria, before retiring.
She was a member of East Peoria American Legion Auxiliary, Radnor Rod & Gun Club, Dunlap, and the Rebekkah Lodge. Helen was a leader of the Dunlap PTA and Dunlap Cub Scouts for several years. She also was a former member of Prospect United Methodist Church, Dunlap.
There will be private family services. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Peoria.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
