Obituary of Dean D. King

Princeville – Dean D. King, 89, formerly of Princeville, died at 2:55 pm Friday, August 31, 2007, at Aberdeen Village in Olathe, KS.

Dean was born May 12, 1918, in McNabb, the son of Gordon and Helen Hauger King.  He married Harriet Effie Kerns on June 11, 1944, in Peoria.  She preceded him in death on April 1, 1990. 

Surviving are two sons, Philip (and Eleanor) King of Stilwell, KS, and Dennis King of Sandy, UT; four grandchildren: Gregory (and Allison R.), Thomas, Allison M. and Evan, a sister, Phyllis Stonier of Thornton, Colorado; and two half brothers, Frank Stratton of Chillicothe and Larry Stratton of Peoria.

Dean worked as a mechanical engineer for the R.G. LeTourneau Company, Peoria, retiring in 1981.  He was a member of the American Society of Metals, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American Gear Manufacturers Association, the former Princeville Kiwanis Club, and attended First Presbyterian Church while living in Princeville.  He also served as a member and president of the Princeville grade school board.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at First Presbyterian Church.  Rev. Harry Losey will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Akron-Princeville Ambulance Service, Snyder Village in Metamora, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
