Obituary of William "Nick" Knobloch

Princeville – William “Nick” Knobloch, 83, of Princeville, formerly of Wyoming, died on Sunday, May 13, 2007, at Apostolic Christian Skylines, Peoria, Illinois.

Nick was born on February 12, 1924, in Larchwood, Iowa, to William and Pauline Feucht Knobloch.  He grew up in the Wyoming, Illinois, area and married Gladys I. Hornback on February 16, 1945, in Peoria.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys; sons, David (Judy) Knobloch of Bloomington, IL, and Keith (Lisa) Knobloch of Wyoming, IL; daughters, Marsha (Alan) Koehler of Peoria, IL, and Cynthia (Dennis) Aupperle of Princeville, IL; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Marvel) Knobloch of Tremont, IL, and James (Helen) Knobloch of Princeville, IL; and sisters, Esther Kieser of Peoria, IL, Irene (Robert) Weyeneth of Ft. Wayne, IN, Lillian Elsasser of Princeville, IL, and Rose Ann (Richard) Aeschliman of South Bend, IN.  Also surviving is a foster son, Richard (Jeanette) Graham of Princeville, IL, and his family.  Preceding him in death were four sons, one infant, Ronald, William, and Kenneth, two brothers, and one sister.

Nick farmed in rural Wyoming for 45 years.  He and his sons owned and operated Knobloch Grain Company in rural Wyoming for 30 years.  He served on the Wyoming High School and Grade School boards, was chairman of Stark County Soil and Water Conservation District, chairman of Stark County Extension and was a local 4-H Leader.  He served on the founding board of Gateway Woods Children’s Home in Leo, IN.

Nick and Gladys served as special representatives for HCJB World Radio, Quito, Ecuador, for 25 years, and he was a member of Gideon’s International, Peoria North Camp for several years.  Nick Received the WPEO Senior Citizen Award in 1989. He also served as the Stark County Jail Chaplain until 2006.  Nick and Gladys were involved in shipping food and clothing in the United States and overseas to many third world countries.  They were active in the Apostolic Christian World Relief.

Nick was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, Princeville, where funeral services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, May 16, 2007.  Ministers of the church will officiate.  Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall, Princeville, and also from 9:00 to 9:45 am Wednesday, at the church.  Burial will be in Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, Princeville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gideon’s International or Apostolic Christian Skylines, Inc.
