Obituary of Libbie B. Lovan

Peoria – Libbie B. “Maw” Lovan, 86, of Peoria, died at 1:10 pm Friday, August 24, 2007, at Manor Care, Peoria, Illinois.

Libbie was born September 21, 1920, in Upton, KY, the daughter of Balem Parker and Minnie Victoria Crabtree Cox, she married William Boyce Lovan on March 8, 1945, in Paducah, KY.  He died December 19, 1982, in Peoria.

Surviving are two sons, William “Bill” (and Jennifer) Lovan, Jr. of Bartonville, IL, and Charles “Bob” (and Elizabeth) Lovan of Rockledge, FL; three daughters, Deborah (and James) Jackson of Peoria, IL, Mary (and Robert) Akers of Chillicothe, IL, and Brenda (and Matthew) Jackson of Peoria, IL; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Neva Miller and Norma Stevenson both of Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.  Her parents; one son, George “Mike” Lovan; three grandchildren; one brother and seven sisters preceded her in death.

She was a member of Laramie Street Baptist Church, Peoria, where she was very active, teaching Sunday School and being the kitchen hospitality director for many years.  She enjoyed quilting, cooking, sewing, gardening, scrabble, taking care of all her grandkids, and going to Wal-Mart.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, August 31, 2007, at Laramie Street Baptist Church.  Rev. William T. Williams will officiate.  Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, August 30, 2007, at her church, and also one hour prior to funeral service.  Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery, Peoria.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church.
