Obituary of Helen A. Maddex

Princeville - Helen A. Maddex, 85, of Princeville, died at 2:50 pm Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at Proctor Hospital, Peoria.

Helen was born April 10, 1922, in Duncan, Illinois, the daughter of Frank E. and Edna O. Walliker Fox. She married Thomas E. Maddex, Sr. on December 11, 1943, in Princeville.  He died May 27, 1992, in Peoria.

Surviving is one son, Thomas (and Rita) Maddex of Brimfield; one daughter, Janet (and Todd) Healy of Bartonville; and two grandchildren, Mike McKown, Mark (and Brigitte) McKown.  She was preceded in death by a grandson, Mitchell McKown, in 1999.

Helen was a bookkeeper for Peoria Motors for many years.  She was a member of Radnor Grange and served on the board for the Peoria County Council on Aging.  She assisted and participated in the senior meals served in Princeville for many years. 

Helen enjoyed needlework and won three grand champion trophies for her crochet, crafts, & foods at the Heart of Illinois Fair.  She and her husband enjoyed camping and spending time at their cottage in the Ozarks.

She was a member of Princeville United Methodist Church where funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, June 23, 2007.  Rev. Rex Hendrix will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
