Obituary of Lloyd H. Mankle

Dunlap – Lloyd H. Mankle, 94, of Dunlap, died at 9:10 pm Saturday, December 8, 2007, at Proctor Hospital.  Born February 7, 1913, in Jubilee Township, Peoria County, the son of Albert and Ada Strickler Mankle, he married Mattie B. Grant on June 12, 1937, in Peoria.  She preceded him in death on August 21, 2005, in Dunlap.  Also preceding him in death was an infant daughter, Judy, three sisters and one brother.

Surviving is a son, Jim (and Judy) Mankle of Chillicothe; two daughters, Sharon Sipp of Galva, and Betty (and Thomas) Holmes of Vienna, VA; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and three step great grandchildren.

Lloyd was a 1930 graduate of Dunlap High School. He worked for Caterpillar, Inc for over 45 years, first in the foundry for 21 years, then later in plant security, retiring in 1979.

He enjoyed spending time with his family.  He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working in carpentry.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Thursday, December 13, 2007, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville.  Rev. Mary Kathryn Pearce will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service.  Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
