Obituary of Alan J. Schmitt

Kickapoo – Alan J. Schmitt, 42, of Kickapoo, IL, passed away at 3:26 pm Thursday, April 19, 2007, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Alan “Big AL” was born on May 18, 1964, in Peoria, IL, the son of Richard and Joan Noonen Schmitt.

Surviving are his parents of Kickapoo, IL; two brothers, Rick (and Candy) Schmitt and John Schmitt both of Kickapoo, IL; three sisters, Nancy (and Bill) Foreman and Barbara (and Kenny) Kelch both of Kickapoo, IL, and Jane (and Greg) Gudat of Peoria, IL; ten nieces and nephews; and three great nephews, which he greatly loved.  He was preceded in death by his baby sister and his grandparents.

Alan graduated from Brimfield High School.  He was an avid farmer and truck driver working for Shane Farms.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Kickapoo. He enjoyed darts, euchre, and deer hunting.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial mass will be 10:00 am Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Kickapoo. Father Patrick Riordan will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior.  Burial of ashes will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Kickapoo.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Kidney Fund, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Kickapoo, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
